An offseason of hard work is beginning to pay off for Knoxville wrestler Jay Fresh. After competing with the Iowa National Dual Squad in Greco and Freestyle, he also qualified for the Fargo Nationals this summer getting All-American status. Now Fresh has been ranked in the preseason top ten in Class three-A 103 pounds as released by the Predicament. His Coach Eric Whitcome says Fresh is set to have a great season. While there are no teams from the area that are ranked, there are other grapplers that have found their way into the Predicament’s preseason top ten in their respective weight class. In Class 1A 140 pounds Wes Prill from Pleasantville is ranked tenth, while the Trojans Phil Lumley is fifth at 215 pounds. In Class 2A P-C-M’s Dustin Moore is sixth at 215 pounds, and Jake Tool makes it two Mustangs in the top ten with his preseason sixth ranking at 285 pounds. Knoxville’s season will start next Tuesday as the Panthers will host Grinnell and Bondurant-Farrar.
