While wins, losses and statistics are an easy way to measure a team’s success, it is not the only way that coaches chart out the progress that a team makes throughout the course of the season. Pella Christian volleyball coach said this year’s team set many of the same goals that are always set, including winning a conference title, qualifying for the State Tournament, and winning a State Championship.

While the Lady Eagles did not accomplish all of those goals, Head Coach John Evenhouse says the team made some important growth that will benefit them for the rest of their lives, including the knowledge that the ability to serve is not just something that happens on the court.

“We definitely bring a Christian aspect to this whole ‘volleyball school’ thing. That’s why we’re Pella Christian High School – we’re doing this all for the honor and glory of God; and our girls talk about that a lot, and I don’t think it’s just lip service” said Evenhouse.

“I think they really feel that this is something that they’re serving and that they’re going to learn how to serve by doing what they’re doing, and it’s overall a great experience and we thought our girls did a very nice job this year.”

Pella Christian finished the 2010 volleyball season with a 26-11 record overall, qualifying for the State Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.
