More than 120 teachers in Iowa received news from U.S. Cellular that their classroom projects had been funded through the company’s “Calling All Teachers” campaign. The wireless carrier partnered with DonorsChoose.org to fund $1 million in creative classroom projects submitted by public school teachers. Wendy Visser and Nicole DeJong from Lincoln Elementary School in Pella were two teachers who received the grant for their classrooms. Visser tells KNIA/KRLS news that her and DeJong received $500 to fund a rug for their Kindergarten class. She says the rug is divided into sections so that the students can keep their bodies in the space that they are given. Visser adds that the rug came in last week and so far she is very happy with it.
