Members of the Marion County Special Olympics team participated in the area bowling tournament in Des Moines last month. The morning began with the opening ceremonies where local Cameron Cross served as the Special Olympics flag bearer. Jacob Hindman of Knoxville, Cameron Cross of Melcher-Dallas, along with Tegan Ripperger and Marissa Schletzbaum from Pleasantville received blue ribbons at the event and qualified for the state tournament in Des Moines on November 20th. Other team members include Andrew McMulin of Bussey, Haley Stevens and Joe Cunningham of Monroe, Isaiah Brown, Chase Robins and Michelle Turnage of Pleasantville. The team was able to practice at Fairland Bowl in Knoxville to prepare for the event and appreciates the many supporters who help make participation in tournaments like this possible.
