Paramedic Specialist Greg Higginbotham will begin his new full time job with the Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department one month earlier than originally planned. The Knoxville City Council approved the hiring of Higginbotham, who will start on December 1st, at their meeting this week. City Manager Dick Schrad and Fire Chief Mike Roberts talked and realized having Higginbotham start sooner will not only increase the quality of care provided by the department but should save the city some money as well.

Higginbotham has been part of the Knoxville Fire and Rescue department since September of 2004 as a Deputy Chief and prior to being hired by the City of Knoxville he worked for Mercy Ambulance in Des Moines.
