The Pella High football team enters tonight’s Class 3-A Semifinal looking to return to the championship game, but they’ll have to get past a defending champion to do it. The Little Dutch face Solon tonight in a highly anticipated meeting between last year’s State Runner-Up, and a 2-A powerhouse that made the bump up a class this season, after winning three straight titles.

Pella Head Football Coach Jay McKinstrey says that Solon is a very athletic team that in many ways compares to his squad, adding that the Little Dutch will have to play focused, error-free football if they hope to beat the Spartans. Pella is 12-0 overall, while Solon is 11-1, with their only loss coming to Iowa City Regina, which has dominated the Class 2-A landscape this season.

You can listen to tonight’s game live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema providing the class. Due to state regulations, however, the game will not be available for streaming online. Coverage tonight begins at roughly 7:00 pm, with kickoff between Pella and Solon in the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls set for around 7:30 pm.
