Reloading Will Be Key for Pella Boys Basketball

With a roster full of talented athletes and a run to the State Championship game fresh in many people’s minds, there is a great deal of excitement buzzing around this season for the Pella High boys basketball team. However, one of the key tasks for the Little Dutch this season will be finding the players to fill in the roles that were vacated by Nathan Buchheit, Matt Dowie, Blaine Forsythe and Matt Meyers, who graduated last spring.
Pella Head Coach Mark Core says the loss of those players goes deeper than just filling four spots on the roster.
“If we were just talking about numbers, I think you could look at it and say ‘Hey, they only lost four seniors,’ but when you look at who those four seniors were – and the really integral role that each of them played – then that task becomes more daunting,” said Core. “On that note, I use the word “roles” [instead of players] and I think that’s the key concept.”
Pella High sees its first action of the season on Friday at the Turkey Shoot Jamboree in Knoxville.
