With their thrilling win over Bondurant-Farrar still fresh on their minds, the Pella Christian volleyball team is hard at work in practice this week as they prepare for the opening round of play at the State Tournament. The Lady Eagles have five seniors leading this year’s squad, including outside hitter Meredith Fopma, who say the effort put in this week will be key in determining Pella Christian’s success at the State Tournament.

“I think in practice we’re going to have to work like crazy, because every team [that’s left] is going to be good,” says Fopma. “So we have to be really prepared and keep our team together to be ready for next week.”

Pella Christian will face Lake Mills in the opening round of the Class 2-A bracket, with the match set to begin around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. Coverage of the match will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS.
