Knoxville’s Jamie VanderVeer and Timothy Shepherd proved yesterday they could run with just about anyone in the state as both finished the top 20 of the Iowa Track Coaches Association All-Star Cross Country Race held in Des Moines. VanderVeer who a week before earned all-state honors at the class three-A state meet finished sixth and Shepherd came home in 16th place. As a team the Southeast Boys Squad finished fourth out of four teams. Both Shepherd and VanderVeer’s Coach was a familiar face to Knoxville fans…as former girls cross country coach and current Athletic Director Randy Wilson was the Southeast Team’s honorary coach.
