Even though she did not make the top ten nor the top 20 at the state cross country meet, Knoxville’s Alissa Van Klootwyk made an amazing 36 spot improvement from her 79th place finish last season. Coach Mike Moats says VanKlootwyk has become a stronger runner and says if she improves as much next year as she did this season, a top 20 or top 15 is not out of the question. VanKlootwyk also set a personal record of 15:52 seconds during the 3A race on Saturday. She along with six of the girls will return next season, Moats is hopeful they can improve and make a serious run for the state meet.
