Over the past year the City of Knoxville has been going through a Community Visioning Program to help beautify the area, recently a grant application was submitted to make the first improvements. City Manager Dick Schrad tells KNIA/KRLS news he recently submitted an application for funds to change some of the roadside vegetation near the 110th Place interchange to prairie grass and wildflowers. The grant was recommended to the city by the Iowa Living Roadways, Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa State University College of Design who provided funds to undergo the visioning program.

Schrad says he should know within about 45 days whether or not the application was accepted.
