A Knoxville native who is now attending Drake University has developed a project to help keep local children warm this winter. Drake Knit for the Needy was created by Meredith Job and is a program that collects knitted, crocheted or purchased hats, mittens and scarves to help keep the homeless youth in Iowa warm. Job says often times we think about those in need who live in other countries but there are kids in central Iowa that don’t have food, aren’t warm and really need our help too.

The project will run through January 31st and items can be dropped off or mailed to Iowa State Savings Bank at 222 E. Robinson Street Knoxville, IA 50138.

Job says the items will then be distributed to area homeless youth shelters and immediately make a difference.
