Coach John Suntken and the Melcher-Dallas girls basketball team have made their way into the holiday break with a 2-7 mark.
Suntken commented that coming into the year with a young team he was expecting to have some ups and downs. The Lady Saints have found some things to focus on during the holiday break namely their aggressiveness on the offense end of the floor. Suntken knows that there are some talented shooters on his squad but right now youth is causing them to be apprehensive with the basketball and not always pull the trigger when the shot is there. The Lady Saints have gotten some quality minutes from an underclassmen laden group and some great freshman contributions. For the most part the Melcher-Dallas defensive effort has been something that Coach Suntken is pleased with. The goal of the Lady Saints is to hold the opponent under 50 points each game, that has been a goal they have consistently been able to meet. The Lady Saints got back to practice yesterday and open up the 2011 portion of their schedule on January 4th against Seymour and take on Lamoni on the 11th in Bluegrass Conference action.
