A boisterous crowd at Pella Christian High School last night made a boys basketball contest between the Eagles and the PCM Mustangs feel like a postseason game, and for this go-around, the PCM boys would come out on top – winning 52-46.

The Eagles got a strong start to the game before the Mustangs took an 18-16 lead late in the first quarter and never trailed again.  Pella Christian always stayed within striking distance, though, pulling within three points late in the fourth quarter on the heels of a 6-0 scoring run.

PCM’s Scott Bruxvoort led the team in scoring – with 19 points – while Hutch Burns and Jordan Van Roekel added 13 and 11 points, respectively.  All 46 of Pella Christian’s points came from three players, led by a 19-point effort from Alex Branderhorst.  Chase Carlson had 17 points and Kyle Nikkel filled in the remaining 10 for the Eagles.

With the win, PCM is off to a 6-0 start; while Pella Christian suffered its first loss to fall to 3-1.
