Earlier this month, students at Lincoln Elementary and Jefferson Intermediate Schools participated in the Speedstacking Guiness Book of World Records attempt. Speedstacking is a competitive way to stack cups where individuals race against each other or a clock to stack the cups in a pyramid and then unstack them. There were 400 students in Pella, part of the 314,000 cup stacker’s around the world, helping break the old record of 276,000 stacker’s. P.E. teacher Tracy Murphy says Speedstacking is a great activity for developing hand-eye coordination and helps with concentration. In addition, Murphy says the students that participated received stickers that said “I stacked” and coupons from the events sponsors.
