After the first seven games for the Knoxville Boys Basketball squad Jamie VanderVeer is the team’s leading scorer at eight-point-seven points per game. He is also the leading rebounder for the Panthers with 31 this season which is unusual for his size as he is not the tallest player on the team. However Coach Clint Driftmier says VanderVeer does not mind going inside and battling the taller post players not only games but in practices. Point Guard C-J Wright is far and away the leader in assists on the team with 20 while Cory Collins and Luke Brady are tied with the best free throw percentage at 75%. As a team Knoxville is shooting 37% from the field and nearly 61% from the free throw line. Driftmier says all of those numbers need to get better as the team heads full force into Little Hawkeye Conference play this Tuesday against Grinnell.
