The unemployment rate for both Marion County and the U.S. increased slightly in the month of November, though the number of unemployed workers in Iowa decreased last month. According to figures recently released by Iowa Workforce Development, the unemployment rate in Marion County increased from 5.9% to 6% in November, while the percentage of jobless workers in Iowa dropped one tenth of a percent to 6.6%. The national unemployment rate last month jumped to 9.8% after remaining at a steady 9.6%. At this time last year the rate of jobless workers in the county was five tenths of a percentage higher at 6.5%.
