Monroe Fire and Rescue, Pella Ambulance and Knoxville Fire and Rescue along with Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies and Iowa State Patrol responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of highway G-28 and highway 14 at approximately 3pm Thursday.
According to a report by the Iowa State Patrol a 2002 Dodge Caravan driven by 35 year-old Leslie Jane VanZee of Pella was turning south onto highway 14 from G-28 and a 2002 GMC Sonoma pick up driven by 58 year-old Sir Jon Paul Edward Busick of Melcher Dallas was traveling northbound on highway 14. VanZee failed to yield, and her vehicle was struck by Busick’s on the front left corner of the vehicle.

VanZee and two juvenile passengers in her vehicle sustained injuries and were transported via ambulance to Pella Regional Health Center, further information on their condition has not been released.

Busick was also injured and transported to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines via Mercy One, hospital officials tell KNIA/KRLS news he is now in good condition.

VanZee was cited for failure to yield right of way and failure obey a stop sign.
