A fire broke out in the basement of a home in Pershing shortly before noon on Saturday. The home is in the 1800 block of Polk St. Indiana Township Fire, Knoxville Rescue, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded. Indiana Township Fire Chief Mike Legvold tells KNIA/KRLS News that the fire started when the furnace seized up. Upon arrival on scene, breakers were tripped and the fire was quickly brought under control.
