A flurry of three-pointers in the second half helped the Central College men’s basketball team pick up their second consecutive Iowa Conference victory, as the Dutch downed the Spartans 97-81 last night in Dubuque.  Central led by just three points at the intermission, but knocked down five three-pointers and two free throws in the first five minutes of the second half to go up 66-53 and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Demarco Turner had four of those three-pointers on his way to a game-high 31 points, as he shot a blistering 9-for-10 from the floor, including all six of his attempts from beyond the arc.  Jack Bruns added 18 points for the Dutch, and Brock Caves chipped in 17.  As a team, the Dutch shot a jaw-dropping 61 percent (36-of-59) from the floor, including 10-of-13 from three-point range.

The Central men are now 8-7 overall and 4-3 in league play, and will go for their third straight win tomorrow night, as they welcome Buena Vista University to Kuyper Gymnasium.  The Beavers are 3-4 in the conference after falling to Simpson last night.
