Luckily there hasn’t been much snow here in the area so far this winter though the Knoxville City Council discussed their sidewalk snow clearing operations and future options at this week’s meeting. Public Works Director Jeff May explained to the council just how many sidewalks the city currently clears despite the fact that they do not have the most ideal equipment. The council discussed purchasing new equipment and the Public Works Department possibly expanding their sidewalk snow removal service to include the downtown square.

No formal action was taken though city staff was directed to contact downtown business owners to see if they would be interested in paying the city to remove the snow on their sidewalks.
