A slow start by Knoxville was too much to overcome as the Panthers fell to Grinnell last night in girls basketball 42-35. Knoxville found itself down 12-3 after one quarter of play, but picked up the intensity and actually outscored the Tigers 32-30 the rest of the way. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said even with the slow start there were some positive that he took from the game like scoring and defense. Alex Abens led all scorers with 19 points as Knoxville falls to 5-11 on the season and 2-8 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
