The Knoxville Board of Education met last night and received an update from the SOS committee regarding the stadium renovation, among other agenda items. They approved acceptance of a report the 21st Century Skills Committee, a course offering on teaching literary independence for elementary school teachers and principals, accepted the Knoxville Education Association’s initial proposal for the master contract which included a 5% proposed salary increase for 2011-12, approved the addition of new forms related to grievances under the Americans with Disabilities Act and others, voted to renew an agreement with the state regarding the administration of retirement plans, reviewed the proposed school calendar for 2011-12, discussed the laptop program, and addressed current legislation currently under consideration at the statehouse.
