It was a quick meeting for the Knoxville School Board last night. At the meeting the board approved the $43,700 low bid from Site Services in Algona for removal of asbestos containing materials in the old junior high building, reviewed the 2011 athletic budget, received information gathered from other schools who have implemented the 1-to-1 laptop program, approved the mid-year graduation for nine students – pending completion of their fall semester coursework and approved the trips for wrestling team and jazz band. In addition, the board also briefly discussed legislative issues that could impact the district during this year’s session.

Also, due to today’s weather related closing of Knoxville schools the snow day will be made up later this week. Thursday was originally scheduled as a work day for teachers to finish up semester grades, however there will now be school Thursday with an early dismissal at 1pm.
