A local business will receive a portion of a $1.4 million grant for renewable energy and biofuels. Alternative Carbon Resources in Pella will be granted $50,000 to determine the feasability of using an industrial mixer to combine cellulosic waste materials with corn syrup and biodiesel to create a high BTU alternative fuel source. The money is being made available by the United States Department of Agriculture through the Bioenergy Program for Advanced Biofuels and the Renewable Energy for America Program.
