A local non-profit business that specializes in selling fair trade items is holding an oriental rug sale at the Pella Opera House in March. Tracey Jansen, a volunteer for Work of Our Hands on Franklin Street says the event is a great opportunity for people to buy a great product that they can be sure was made without the use of child labor. Work of Our Hands is a supplier of Ten Thousand Villages products, who distrubute the rugs that are made by fairly paid adults in Pakistan. The store got involved with the organization when manager Cheryl Newendorp first saw the rugs and fell in love with them. Proceeds from the rug sales go help those workers in Pakistan provide the basic necessities for their families. The sale takes place March 9th through 12th at the Pella Opera House.
