The Pella High School Science Bowl team competed in regional competition Saturday. Shaun Van Weelder, Jake Anderson, Shenstone Huang and Brandon Norman traveled to Iowa State University for the event sponsored by the Department of Energy Ames Research Lab. The team advanced to the second round of a four round, double elimination tournament before being eliminated by the team from Iowa City, Regina. The teams are awarded points for correctly answering a variety of science and mathematics questions in a quiz bowl format. Top prize for Saturday’s tournament was a trip to the National Science Bowl Competition in Washington DC sponsored by the Department of Energy.
