The possibility of teacher pay cuts has not yet been widely discussed among Pella Community
School District officials. District Business manager Jon Miller says he’s waiting to find out
what the state will determine for allowable growth in the budget. Miller says the past few years
the budget has grown by 4%, though last year only 2% was funded. The federal government
provided a $426,000 boost to the budget last year, but Miller says that money was not used
when calculating this year’s budget, and some is still available to cover rising operations costs.
