With the new year well under way, dieting for New Year’s resolutions is in full swing. However, sticking to those resolutions can be easier said than done. Carla McFarland, Diabetes Dietician at the Pella Regional Health Center, says the key to a successful diet is planning and portion control. By planning meals in advance, people can avoid the fast food options that tend to be the least healthy . McFarland also says that balance is important to reaching New Year’s weight loss goals. By integrating more fruits and vegetables into the diet, the body will tend to feel fuller longer, which helps keep people from over eating.
