Improvements to the Knoxville City Hall continue as the City Council approved insulation replacement and pipe connection repair at their meeting this week. A $11,300 contract with Iowa Insulation was approved Monday to rewrap the chiller pipes in the building. However, before that process can begin the council agreed to obtain a bid from a plumber to replace around two dozen pipe fittings after one of the connections came apart during the asbestos removal process. City Manager Dick Schrad says despite this extra step, the city will still be roughly $10,000 under the $25,000 total they had budgeted for City Hall improvements when issuing a GO bond last year.
