The Pella girl’s battled from behind all night on Tuesday, but couldn’t pull ahead of Benton, as the Bobcats pulled out a 46-43 stunner over the Lady Dutch.

Pella was down by as many as nine points in the first half, but came back to cut the lead to three by halftime, as the Lady Dutch outscored Beton 11-9 in the second frame.

In the second half, both teams went back and forth and Pella brought the game within one possession numerous times, along with two ties.  The two teams each put up 13 points in the third quarter, as the Bobcats took a three-point lead into the final quarter.

Pella couldn’t get the free-throws to drop, going 8-for-16 from the line in the second half.  The Lady Dutch couldn’t find enough offensive power to overcome the 9-point first half deficit, and Benton prevailed by a three point margin.

With the win, Benton will advance to the State Tournament representing Class 3A Region 6.

Pella’s season comes to an end with the loss.  Graduating seniors are Kelsey Fynaardt, Lindsay Bentzinger, MaKenzie Vander Molen, MacKenzie Anthony, Hali Steenhoek and Whitney Williams.
