Marion County Habitat For Humanity has announced its latest home completions. Begun last fall, two homes in Knoxville and one home in Pella have been completed with the help of local volunteers and high schools. Lisa Hauser, Director of Marion County Habitat For Humanity says these three homes bring the total the total to 30 the number of homes built and sold by the organization since 1997. She says habitat homes are sold to the new owners, not donated, which is a common misconception. The organization provides interest free mortgages for those homes to those who meet four basic requirements: a need for shelter, a willingness to provide “sweat equity” by helping in the construction process, the ability to repay that mortgage, and residency and employment in Marion County for 12 months.
