As previously reported on KNIA/KRLS, Marion County residents will be able to cast their vote on the renewal of a 1% Local Option Sales and Services Tax next month. In order to increase awareness about the special election and importance of the LOSST Mayor Don Zoutte recently appointed a Renewal Committee consisting of himself, Bob Wims, Gary Verwers, Dylan Morse, Harv Sprafka and Ed Moses. The committee plans to host several public meetings about the sales tax renewal leading up to the special election on March 1st.

The current local option sales tax was passed in Knoxville in 2003 and will remain in effect until December 31, 2013 though due to an initiative to attempt to have all communities in the county renew at the same time the renewal was moved forward to this year.
