The Knoxville School Board approved their initial proposal for the 2011-2012 master contract at their meeting Monday. The board’s proposal includes a 1.5% total package increase which would affect both the benefits and salaries of all employees. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says there is not much room in the budget for significant salary increases this year. Back in January the Knoxville Education Association submitted their initial proposal of a 5% increase which Dr. Flack says would have cost the district between $450,000 and $500,000. The negotiation process will continue at future meetings.
