Due to plans to consolidate offices for Iowa Workforce Development into regional stations, local libraries, Extension offices and other outlets will now be charged with providing those services. Dale Miller, Director of the Marion County ISU Extension Office says he hasn’t yet recieved any direction on what, if any, new services they will provide, and is waiting for more information. Wendy Street, Director of the Pella Public Library says the library will be able to offer computer and internet access to job seekers, but has also not heard of any other changes. Brian Peterson, Associate Economics Professor at Central College says he has doubts about the ability to provide quality job-seeking services regionally through these other offices.
