Local Optimist Club Hosts Essay and Oratorical Contests

The Knoxville Optimist Club is sponsoring a pair of contests this month aimed at fine tuning the writing and speaking skills of area youth. Students who were 18 or younger on December 31st of 2010 are invited to participate in an essay and/or oratorical contest. The essay topic is “How my education is the key to a successful future” and the oratorical topic is “If I were a leader of the free world the first issue I would address would be…” Pam Burke of the Knoxville Optimist Club says the winners of the local contest will receive $200 and be able to continue on to the next level of competition.
