Local Wrestlers Get 1st Round Matchups For State Meet

The matchups have been set for our nine area wrestlers who have qualified for the state meet this week. In Class 3A Knoxville’s Jay Fresh will wrestle Bryce Meyer of Fort Madison a 103 pounds while Panther 171 pound qualifier Skylar Spaur will take on Bryan Levsen of Bettendorf. Moving to class 1A Pleasantville’s 140 pound qualifier Wes Prill will battle Fort Dodge St. Edmound’s Teddy Harvey while Tasker Phillips will go up against Max Cherry of East Buchanan Winthrop in his first round 145 pound match and 215 pound Phil Lumley will wrestle Preston Russell of Lisbon. In class 2A: P-C-M’s Dalton Kingery was take on Case Goodman of South Central Calhoun at 119 pounds, Bryce Wignall will wrestle J-C Vercande of Williamsburg, Trent Little will take on Derek Storkof Atlantic at 160 pounds, Dustin Moore goes up against Terron Geerdes of Central Lyon/George Little Rock at 215 pounds. The State Wrestling Meet gets underway Wednesday and goes through Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
