The 2010 Census results are in, and Marion County is among those counties in the state of Iowa who have grown their populations. Marion County now has 33,309 residents, an increase of 3.92% over the year 2000. Not all communities fared equally, however. Pella topped the 10,000 mark at 10,352, up 5.3%. Pleasantville also saw an increase in population, up 10.1% to 1,694 residents. Knoxville saw a decrease in population of 5.3% to 7,313.

Other communities showing an increase in population were Marysville, up 22.2% to 66 residents, and nearby Monroe up 1.2% to 1,830.

Other communities showing a decline in population were Harvey, down 15.9% to 235, Swan, down 40.5% to 72, Melcher Dallas down .8% to 1288, and Bussey down 6.8% to 422.
