Today kicks off the sixth week of Iowa’s 84th general assembly and so far the Senate has only debated a total of five bills, something Senate Minority Leader Paul McKinley says is a very serious problem. McKinley says the legislators are sent to the capital, sometimes at great sacrifice, to do the will of the people and so far Senate Majority Leader Michael Gronstal is not allowing debate on anything. He says there are literally dozens of bills stuck in committee that would address any and all issues in the state and at this rate, they will still be in session during the 2012 election.
