Pella Christian made the annual road trip to Oskaloosa Friday night with one thing in mind, sweep the season series. The girls achieved their goal with a 54-36 victory of a game broadcast live on 92.1 FM KRLS.

Pella Christian came out strong and never trailed in the game. They had built a 16 point lead by the half thanks-in-part to a very successful full court press.

Paige Zylstra led the way for the Lady Eagles with 15 points, Taylor Stursma added 14 of her own off the bench.

With the win, Pella Christian is now 14-3 overall with a 10-2 conference record, they will prepare for a big game at Pella High School on Tuesday night when they face the Lady Dutch.

The Pella Christian boys also earned a season sweep over Oskaloosa Friday night, although it wasn’t nearly as easy as the girls. For the second time this season, the Eagles needed overtime to get rid of the Indians.

Pella Christian held a 7 point lead towards the end of regulation before watching Oskaloosa battle back to force the game into overtime. Pella Christian came out strong scoring the first 2 buckets en route to their 63-59 win.

Sam Tvedt led the way for the Eagles with 16 points, despite fouling out of the game late in the fourth quarter. Kyle Nikkel added 13 points, Alex Branderhorst had 11 and Chase Carlson chipped in 10.

With the win, Pella Christian is now 14-3 overall with a 9-2 conference mark. They play host to Des Moines Christian today before preparing for the Tulip City Showdown Tuesday night in Pella High School.
