The Lady Eagles hosted Des Moines Christian Saturday. It was their 3rd game in as many days, and also their 3rd win in as many days. Pella Christian survived a close one, 44-41.
The Lady Eagles held a 31-20 lead at the half before DMC made a late second half comeback in which they took the lead. Pella Christian battled back, regained the lead and withstood the grueling 3 day schedule undefeated.
Paige Zylstra led the team with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Paige Engbers had 9 points in the form of three 3-pointers.. Four players had 6 points each.
The win marks the girls 9th straight win. They are now 15-3 overall with a conference record of 10-2. The girls will face off against cross-town rival Pella on Tuesday night. The game will have important implications from a few angles. Of course, the rivalry with the Lady Dutch, but the contest could also change the top of the Little Hawkeye Conference as both teams chase South Tama for the conference crown. Pella is a half-game ahead of the Lady Eagles.
It will also be Coaches vs. Cancer night as both teams and the community unites to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Dollars for Scholars will be hosting a soup supper prior to the games to raise money for local scholarships.
