A decisive third quarter broke open what had been a very evenly contested match-up, as the Pella girls basketball team defeated Pella Christian 58-48 in a game heard last night on 92.1 fm KRLS.

After Pella held the advantage in the opening quarter, the Lady Eagles charged back in the second quarter to tie the game at 27-27 by halftime.  Pella came out fired up in the second half to retake the lead, and held at least a two-point advantage the rest of the way.

The Lady Dutch had four players hit double figures in scoring, led by Kelsey Fynaardt’s 17-point, 7 rebound performance.  Pella Christian’s Jasmin Schelhaas led all players with 19 points.

The Pella girls still keep their shot at a Little Hawkeye Conference title alive, as they will put their 11-1 league mark up against co-leader South Tama on Thursday night.  Pella Christian is now 10-3 in conference play, with a final league match-up against Norwalk on Thursday as well.
