With blizzard conditions throughout much of Iowa residents are encouraged not to travel at this time. If you must travel, it is important to be prepared by keeping a winter emergency kit in your vehicle. Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says you can never be too prepared and says there are several items that are very important to keep with you during winter storms. Anderson recommends keeping the kit materials inside a plastic tub in an easy to access location in your vehicle. If you do become stranded it is important to remain inside the vehicle in order to protect yourself from the frigid temperatures and cold winds.

BASIC ITEMS TO KEEP IN A WINTER EMERGENCY KIT:

· Metal or plastic cup
