Due to anticipated blizzard conditions beginning this afternoon and continuing through the night, Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat tells KNIA/KRLS news that he is discouraging travel this evening after dark, especially travel on county rock roads. He says that if you must travel be sure to have a cell phone and emergency supplies with you. Given the possibility of heavy snow and strong winds, conditions may make it difficult for first responders to reach stranded travelers quickly. If you do become stranded, Goemaat says the safest thing to do is to stay in the vehicle, and call 911 for help.
