In voting no on the bill to allow the hunting of mourning doves in Iowa, State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven says he was voting for the wishes of the people he represents. Van Engelenhoven says it’s an issue that has come up many times over the years. He says he received many e-mails from constituents voicing concern over the bill, a ratio he says was about one e-mail in support of the measure to 25 against it. Van Engelenhoven says the voters he represents tend to be in support of conservation efforts in the area, and his vote reflected that feeling.
