While Japan may be on the opposite side of the world, Marion County residents have an opportunity this weekend to connect with the Japanese culture through the art of music. Japanese shamisen player Agatsuma, one of the most respected musicians in all of Japan, and his ensemble have spent the last 6 days working with children in our local schools and performing for various groups in the area. Saturday night the group will perform a public concert in the Knoxville Middle School auditorium at 7pm. Tickets are $7 and will be available at the door. In addition, Arts Midwest has started a fundraiser to help provide relief in Japan. Concert attendees can drop donations off at Saturday’s concert or online if you CLICK HERE.

All donations will go to the American Red Cross and be sent directly to the Japan relief fund.
