Arts Midwest Aims to Raise Money for Relief in Japan

Japanese shamisen player Agatsuma and his ensemble continue to make their way through the area as our fourth and final guests of the Arts Midwest World Fest this week.

So far the group has visited Knoxville and Melcher-Dallas Schools, performed for the Rotary Club and 3M employees and have had a chance to get a taste of the culture we have here in Marion County.

In light of the recent tragedies in Japan, Arts Midwest has started a campaign to try and raise at least $5,000 for the American Red Cross which will go directly toward the Japan relief fund. To help meet the goal, Arts Midwest has pledged to match the first $2,500 raised and local residents are challenged to help let our Japanese guests know that we stand behind them during these tough times.

A free will offering will be taken at Saturday night’s public concert at 7pm in the middle school auditorium though donations can also be submitted online if you CLICK HERE [1].
