A record-breaking performance on the base paths helped lead the Central College baseball team to another victory yesterday, as the Dutch picked up a 7-4 win over William Patterson University.  Central was a perfect eight-for-eight in stolen base attempts, shattering the previous record of five steals in a single game.

The aggressive base-running helped Central put runs on the board in a game that was tied 3-3 in the fourth inning before the Dutch took the lead for good in the sixth frame.  Josh Stanton and Sam Stetzel each had to RBIs for the Dutch, while Jared Lackey went 3-for-5 at the plate.

Michael Jontz earned the win on the mound for Central, striking out four in 6 and one-third innings of work, with Bret Bell earning the save.  With the win, the Central baseball team is now 5-1 on their spring break trip to Mesa, Arizona, and 7-2 overall.

They are scheduled to face Dickinson State and Marian in a split bill today.
