The Knoxville City Council met in regular session last night. At the meeting the council approved the second reading of an ordinance amending the sewer usage fees, discussed the possibility of purchasing a tanning bed for the Recreation Center where several members expressed concern with taking customers away from other businesses in the area therefore, a motion was made and approved to table the issue to do further research and discuss again at a future meeting.

The council also approved the final contract for the Competine Street Reconstruction project at a cost of $148,627, approved the addition of sanitary sewer and paving on South Street west of Jefferson street as part of the West Area Relief Sewer Project at a cost of just over $82,000 which will come from the general obligation bond, approved a seasonal summer help policy which states immediate family of council members and city employees are ineligible for employment and approved the purchase of a pickup truck for the waste water treatment plant from Motor Inn for a cost of $25,322/
