A Japanese shamisen player and his ensemble have survived last week’s tragedies and made their way safely to Marion County as our fourth and final Arts Midwest Worldfest guests. Agatsuma will spend the next week working with area students in the schools and playing for local groups and companies.

Megan McKay Ziller of the Red Rock Arts Alliance, the group responsible for coordinating the events, says while each of our guests in this program have brought something unique to the area, after last week’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan she hopes the community will really come together to help support this group and connect with them through the art of music.

A public concert will be held Saturday night at 7pm in the Knoxville Middle School auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door or you can purchase them in advance at The Next Chapter or Peace Tree Brewing Company.
